Three Kentucky Emergency Medicine Practices: A New Department, an Expanding Program and a Referral Center

Ashland, Corbin and Paducah, Kentucky

Thanks for your interest. We are recruiting across three emergency departments in Kentucky, in Ashland, Corbin and Paducah, and the practices are as different as the facilities themselves.

All three come with substantial APP coverage in the department, sign-on and relocation support, and communities where the commute is short and your income goes considerably further. Ashland

A department built last year

The department: Opened June 2025, 86 treatment areas and more than 60 private rooms, inside a 455-bed regional medical center
What is distinctive: Advanced primary stroke center with thrombectomy and 24-hour stroke support, two dedicated CT scanners, a STAT lab, two trauma bays and a provider-in-triage model with scribes available
Best for: Physicians who want a busy, high-acuity practice with modern systems behind them. New graduates welcome

Corbin

A program in the middle of a build

The department: 27 beds expanding to 45, with roughly 45,000 visits a year
What is distinctive: Level IV trauma with certified stroke and STEMI care, real procedural volume including intubations, central lines and chest tubes, and APP coverage in every zone including overnight
Best for: Physicians who want to shape a team and a culture while it is still being set, with visible impact in the community

Paducah

Referral-center medicine without the metro

The department: Regional referral center for western Kentucky and southern Illinois
What is distinctive: Full-service specialty backup with dependable consults, near one-to-one physician and APP coverage, and longer shifts that commonly put a full-time month at roughly 10 days
Best for: Physicians who want meaningful pathology with real support, and extended blocks of time away. Clear paths into clinical, quality or administrative leadership

Why These Three

These are not three versions of the same practice. One is a newly built high-volume department, one is a community program in the middle of an expansion and one is a regional referral center with an unusual schedule. So the useful conversation starts with what you want next rather than with which role needs filling.

Life in Kentucky

The three sites sit in different corners of the state. Corbin is in the southeast, roughly 90 miles from Lexington and 85 from Knoxville, with hiking, boating, whitewater and trail running close by. Paducah is an Ohio River city in the west, a UNESCO Creative City with an established arts scene, nearby lakes and strong school options, about two hours from Nashville. Ashland sits on the Ohio River in the northeastern tri-state, about two hours from Columbus and two and a half from Cincinnati, with Huntington just across the river.
